Importing / Exporting Initial State Data

Initial state requires scenario input data. It cannot be extracted into a standalone document to be further used on its own.

Exporting initial states

Initial states are automatically exported with the scenario that they are a part of.

Importing initial states

You can import initial state to any scenario of SIM type by doing either of the following:

  • Choosing File > Import Initial State... from the main menu.
  • Choosing File > Import Scenario from the main menu and enabling the Import initial states in the Advanced options.

Please note the following:

  • If the required scenario lacks data (e.g. events), the corresponding records of the imported initial state will be empty.
  • If the target scenario already contains initial state with the same name:
    • the start time of the existing initial state will be rewritten (if it differs)
    • the imported data will be added to the existing records

To import initial state

  1. Choose File > Import Initial State... from the main menu.
The Import Initial State dialog box will open.

  2. Select the MS Excel file with the initial state data by clicking the Browse button to the right of the field and navigating to the existing file.

If the selected MS Excel file does not contain initial states, a warning message will pop up.

  3. Select the scenario to import the initial state(s) to from the Target scenario drop-down list.
  4. Click the Initial states to import drop-down list and check the required initial states.
  5. Leave the default value in the Select tables to import drop-down list to import all the tables of the importing initial state(s). If needed you may specifically check only the required tables.
  6. Click OK to close the dialog box and import the initial state.
If the scenario already contains initial state with the same name:
    • the start time of the existing initial state will be rewritten (if it differs)
    • the imported data will be added to the existing records
